Paleo Marshmallows | How To Make | Clean Eating Treats

I have mentioned this before and I will mention it again... I absolutely LOVE making treats that my kids can enjoy!!

This is especially true when they are treats free from nasty additives, chemicals and refined sugars.

And when I can give them treats that actually contain ingredients beneficial to their health & development I begin to feel like I'm not too bad at this whole Mumming gig...

Because these marshmallows contain quality sourced gelatine they can provide the following health benefits:

Naturally assist the skins healthy appearance

Help keep you fuller longer, by providing a non-fatty source of protein

Promoting healthy digestive functions

Over time can provide relief of inflammation in the joints, as it is a naturally sourced anti-inflammatory

Assist in sleep quality

Naturally boost mentally clarity

AND gelatine assists the body to absorb calcium

Remember, the better the quality of the source of gelatine, the more beneficial it is to your inner health!!

So what will I need to make these marshmallows?

2 tablespoons of gelatine

1/2 cup of cold water

1/2 cup of hot water

1/2 cup of liquid sweetener eg: coconut syrup, honey, maple syrup etc

1/4 teaspoon of stevia (optional)

2 teaspoons of vanilla

1/4 cup tapioca flour

& how will I make them?

Sprinkle the gelatine over your cold water and set aside to bloom

Place the hot water, liquid sweetener and stevia in a thick based saucepan and stir continuously while bringing to a boil

When your mixture soft balls it is ready to be removed from the heat

(soft balling is when you place a small amount of your mixture into cold water and it creates a soft ball)

Slowly combine the sweetened mixture with the gelatine mixture and add in the vanilla

(At this point you can also add in a pinch of beetroot powder to make pink marshmallows)

Whip on high speed until your mixture appears fluffy

Pour your mixture onto a lined tray and place in the fridge to set

Once set cut into slices, lightly coat with tapioca flour and eat when ever you feel like a sweet treat

*It is possible to over mix your marshmallows. They will still taste delicious but it will like someone chewed them up and spat them out

Because making marshmallows is so simple it is something the kids can get involved in... My daughter does everything besides pour the hot syrup into the gelatine and my son just eats what ever he can get his little hands on hahaha We also like to use cookie cutters to make fun shapes because apparently it makes the marshmallows taste better :)

...but I like to coat mine with cacao powder and desiccated coconut because I reckon it makes them taste phenomenal!!
