How to Make | Apple Almond Bircher | With Nut Free Alternative

When it comes to making a super simple and delicious breakfast (or any other time of the day snack) you can't go past this!!

It is jam packed full of flavour and nutrients so I would have absolutely no hesitation in feeding this to my children every. single. day.

Especially as between the two of them they are intolerant to gluten, dairy and eggs so this is such a simple, hassle free start to our day.

This bircher contains omega-3, fibre, vitamins (A, C & E), potassium, antioxidants and protein. Which I've heard is absolutely essential for health, growth, development and repair, especially if you're training hard.

I've chosen to use green apples because not only are they delicious they carry a slightly lower glycemic index than that of their red friends and I found that while I had gestational diabetes they did not spike my blood sugar levels...

So let's get to it.

What ingredients will I need?

1 green apple, shredded

4 tablespoons of chia seeds

1/2 a teaspoon of cinnamon

1/2 cup of almond yoghurt (I like to use the Natural flavour by The Wise Bunny) or if you have a nut allergy you can use coconut yoghurt (my favourite is the Vanilla Bean by CoYo)

3/4 cup of almond milk. This can be substituted with coconut milk or water.

How many serves will it make?

2-3

How do I make this delicious bircher?

Combine all the ingredients in a bowl and cover overnight.

How simple is that?!

The next morning you can spoon your bircher into a bowl or cup and serve with coconut flakes, berries, seeds, nuts, yoghurt, chocolate or whatever else you please.

I tend to eat it as is but when I feel like spoiling my tastebuds I serve it like this...

What is this deliciousness?

Beetroot cream, granola and wait for it... CHOCOLATE!

I am working on a post for both the granola and chocolate. And trust me, it is delicious and just as simple to make as this bircher.

But keep reading if you want to find out how to make the beetroot cream...

What ingredients will I need?

1 can of coconut cream. Place in fridge overnight to seperate the cream from the liquid. The liquid can be saved and used in smoothies or any other recipe that calls for coconut water.

1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract

1 tablespoon of maple syrup

1-2 tablespoons of beetroot powder

How do I make it?

Place all the ingredients in a bowl and with an electric mixer, mix it until it becomes thick and creamy and begins forming peaks.

Oh my goodness there is so much, what will I do with it all?

You can eat this creamy tastiness with what ever you please. It can be served as a side with nearly any breakfast or dessert. Or you can even use it for frosting on a cake. The cream will be safe in your fridge for about a week.

I hope you enjoyed my very first recipe share and I can't wait to keep the flow going by sharing more with you in the future xx
